Social Media Management Pricing: Start From Cost per Client

Set your social media management pricing from the bottom up: tool cost per client, then your hours, then margin. The tools are the small part. At 10 clients, a scheduler (Pallyy Agency, $99 a month for 10 social sets) costs $9.90 per client per month, and one bio-link page per client adds a small fixed line on top. Your time is the rest of the price.

We make Linkero, a paid link-in-bio page builder, and it appears in the cost model below.

How much does social media management cost?

To you, the provider, the cost has a hard floor you can calculate: the tools. On Pallyy's published prices, the scheduler alone runs between $9.90 and $13.00 per client per month at 5 to 20 clients (checked 2 October 2026), and the bio page is one more per-client line you can read off your bio-link plan.

What the client pays is mostly your time. We don't quote a "market average" retainer here because we have no dated survey to cite, and an average built from forum threads mixes freelancers, agencies and countries. Your own hours and your own rate are the numbers that matter.

What does the tool stack cost per client?

This is the stack most small agencies run for the client-facing side: one scheduler for posting, one bio-link tool for the link every client profile needs. Monthly billing, one Pallyy social set per client, one bio page per client.

20Pallyy Agency + 10 extra sets at $10$199$9.9520 pages: the Agency plan (25 live pages)

Pallyy prices from pallyy.com/pricing, last verified 2 October 2026 (the page still answered at the same address with the heading "Pricing that scales with your client list" on 29 October 2026). Bio-page plan limits from Linkero's product page, 6 October 2026; divide your bio-link plan's monthly price by your live client pages to fill in that column, and see the current plans on the pricing page.

Three things the table shows:

  • At 20 clients, switch scheduler plans. Pallyy Scale is also $199 a month and carries 30 sets, so the same spend leaves room for 10 more clients.
  • The bio-page line barely moves. On Linkero, one Agency plan covers up to 25 live pages, so clients 10 through 25 cost you nothing extra. Only live pages count, so a paused client's page can be hidden without using a slot.
  • Per-user tools scale with your team, not your roster. Hootsuite Standard is $99 per user per month on annual billing (checked 2 July 2026) and has no bio-link product, so every new team member adds a seat on top of the bio pages.

For comparison, giving each client their own Linktree Premium account ($35 a month, last USD-verified 2 July 2026) costs $350 a month at 10 clients, with no bulk discount. The cost of running client bio pages from one account is broken down tool by tool in our multi-client guide, and the wider agency tool stack covers the analytics and approval layers we leave out here.

How much should you charge for social media management?

Use one formula and fill in your own numbers:

Price per client = (tool cost per client + hours per month × your hourly rate) × (1 + margin)

A worked package for an agency at 10 clients:

  1. Scheduler cost per client: $9.90 (from the table). Add your bio-page cost per client to it.
  2. Hours: 12 a month for one client (planning, creating, scheduling, replying, reporting).
  3. Rate: $40 an hour, an example, not a market figure. Use what your time actually costs you.
  4. Margin: 25%, to cover sales time, revisions and the month a client pays late.

Before the bio-page line: (9.90 + 12 × 40) × 1.25 = 489.90 × 1.25 = $612.38. Rounding the quote up to $620 a month leaves room for the bio page.

The scheduler is under 2% of that price. That is the real lesson of the cost table: cutting a tool saves you a few dollars per client, while logging your hours accurately can move the price by hundreds. Track time per client for two full months before you trust the hours figure.

What goes in a social media management package?

Three tiers are enough for most small agencies. Change the platform count and posting volume between tiers; keep the bio page and reporting in all three, because every client profile needs a working link either way.

TierPlatformsPosts per weekReportingHours per month (example)Formula result at $40/hour, 25% marginQuote
Essentials1 to 23Monthly summary6$312.38$320
Growth35Monthly report + call12$612.38$620
Full service47, plus community repliesMonthly report, bio-link clicks, call20$1,012.38$1,020

Every row uses the same $9.90 scheduler cost, because a client on Essentials still takes a scheduler slot and a bio page; the rounding up covers the bio page.

List the bio page as its own line item ("bio-link page on the client's domain, updated with every campaign"). Clients see what they are paying for, and it gives the reporting section a number to show. Our guide to link-in-bio analytics and what to track lists the metrics worth putting in a monthly client report.

Should you charge per platform or per client?

Charge per client, and use the platform count to pick the tier. Your largest costs follow the client: the scheduler charges per set (Pallyy adds $10 for each set past the plan's allowance, checked 2 October 2026), and each client takes one bio page whether they post on one network or four.

Per-platform pricing still has a place as an add-on. When one platform is far more work than the others, such as a client who wants short-form video on top of image posts, price that platform as an extra on top of the tier rather than rebuilding the whole package.

FAQ

What do most small businesses pay for social media management?

We have no dated survey figure to quote, so we won't give one. Ask each prospect what they spend now (on a freelancer, an in-house hour, or tools) and price against the work they want. The formula above tells you the lowest price that still pays you properly.

Should the bio link page be in the package?

Yes. Every client profile already links somewhere, and a page you control lets you update it with each campaign and report its clicks. Because an agency plan spreads one bill across many pages, the cost per client stays small, so include it in every tier instead of selling it separately.

Do I need a separate tool per client?

No. Agency plans hold many clients in one account: Pallyy Agency includes 10 sets, and Linkero Agency runs 25 live pages with folders and invite members (admins and editors). Some agencies take the all-in-one route instead; GoHighLevel's Starter plan is $97 a month (checked 2 October 2026). Our ranking of the best link-in-bio tools for marketing agencies compares the bio-link options.

Build your rate card this week

Open a spreadsheet with one row per active client. Put your current monthly tool bills at the top, divide them by your client count, and start logging hours against each client. After two billing cycles, put those hours into the formula, set the three tiers, and send the new rate card to your next prospect.
