How to Get a QR Code for Your Linktree Bio (2026)

To get a QR code for your Linktree bio, sign into your Linktree dashboard, click the QR Code icon in the top navigation, and download the generated PNG or SVG. It's free on every plan, including Free. But customization (colors, logo overlay, corner shapes) is gated to Pro at $15 a month, and after the July 5, 2026 policy update, what your QR points at has changed too.

How do I get my Linktree QR code? (Step-by-step, 2026)

The path is the same on every plan, including Free.

  1. Sign in at linktr.ee and open your dashboard.
  2. Click the QR Code icon in the top navigation bar (a small QR square next to your profile menu).
  3. Preview the code. Linktree renders a default black-on-white QR with the Linktree logo in the middle. Free and Starter users see this exact style with no way to change it.
  4. Download. You get two format buttons: PNG (raster, best for social posts and web) and SVG (vector, best for print, embroidery, signage, or any resize).
  5. Test before you ship. Open your phone camera on the downloaded file and confirm it resolves to your linktr.ee/username. A misfiled download is the #1 reason printed QRs fail.

On mobile, the flow is identical: iOS and Android apps both show the QR code button in the profile view.

If you want to skip the account entirely and just generate a QR for any URL, Linkero's free QR code generator does it in the browser with no signup, no watermark, and PNG or SVG export.

Does Linktree have a free QR code?

Yes. The QR code itself is available on every Linktree plan, Free included. There is no upsell to unlock the download.

What you cannot do on Free or Starter is customize it. The default is a black-on-white square with the Linktree logo in the center. That is fine for testing or a personal use, but weak on a printed asset next to any professional branding.

Premium$35YesYes

QR customization is one of the specific Pro upgrades listed in Linktree's plan comparison. Starter, despite being paid, does not unlock it. If you're weighing whether Pro is worth the jump, our full Linktree Free vs Pro breakdown covers the other Pro-gated features (logo removal, 365-day analytics, Google Analytics, audience integrations) so you can decide on the full bundle, not just the QR.

Can I customize my Linktree QR code with a logo?

Not on Free. Not on Starter. Only Pro and Premium unlock:

  • Logo overlay in the center of the QR
  • Custom foreground and background colors
  • Corner and dot shape variations

If a branded QR is the only reason you were considering an upgrade, there are two cheaper paths:

  1. A third-party QR generator. QRStuff and QRcode-tiger both offer free color and logo customization. You point the QR at your linktr.ee/username URL and download the styled version. This costs nothing but adds a tool to your workflow, and dynamic QRs on those platforms usually sit behind a paywall.
  2. Linkero's free QR generator. Our tool supports color customization and a center logo upload in the browser. Static QR, no signup, permanent code.

Both options work with any URL, so you can generate a styled QR that still points at your existing Linktree page.

Are Linktree QR codes permanent?

The QR image is permanent. Save it, print it, ship it a thousand times, and the encoded URL never changes.

What is not permanent is the URL itself. Linktree QRs encode linktr.ee/yourusername. That URL resolves as long as your Linktree account stays active. If you delete the account, downgrade to a state that hides the profile, or change your username, previously printed QRs still open the URL, but the URL may 404, redirect, or land on a page you no longer control.

If you're printing at any real volume (stickers, business cards, event signage, product packaging), read the next section before you send anything to a printer.

What if I want a QR code that doesn't say linktr.ee?

Linktree offers no custom domain option on any plan. Their help center article 6571689 is explicit: "We don't offer the option to use a custom domain to replace the linktr.ee URL." Their suggested workaround is "redirect links," but the QR itself still has to encode a real URL, and that URL is linktr.ee/yourname.

If you want the QR to encode a URL you own (yourbrand.com or a subdomain), you have two real options:

  1. Move to a bio-link tool that supports custom domain on its entry paid tier. Beacons Creator includes a custom domain, as does Linkero Pro. Both let you generate a QR pointing at yourbrand.com instead of a shared subdomain.
  2. Own a redirect layer. Use a domain you already control to 301-redirect to your Linktree. This works, but every scan takes a two-hop trip, and you lose the branded URL when a user hovers or copies the link on a phone.

For the full setup on option 1, see our custom domain guide.

What changed for Linktree QR codes after July 5, 2026?

The QR code itself did not change. What changed is the page the QR points at.

Linktree's updated Privacy Notice took effect July 5, 2026. It introduces an OpenAI integration that lets ChatGPT surface public profile data (profile picture, summarized biography, and engagement metrics) in AI-generated answers. If you have QR codes already printed on merch, event signage, or product packaging, the URL resolves the same as before — but every scan is now a trip through the new terms.

The Privacy Notice explainer covers what data is shared and how to opt out where you can (EU-located profiles are automatically carved out of the OpenAI integration). How do I make a QR code for a link-in-bio page that isn't Linktree?

  • Linkero users: the dashboard has a built-in QR generator that exports at print resolution and encodes your custom domain if you're on Pro. Pricing is on linke.ro/pricing.
  • Beacons users: QR export is in the dashboard. Beacons Creator at $10 a month includes a custom domain (first year included), so the QR can point at your own URL rather than beacons.ai/yourname.
  • Any URL, no signup: Linkero's free QR generator accepts any URL, exports PNG or SVG, and adds no watermark.

FAQ

Is Linktree free anymore? Yes. The Free plan still exists with unlimited links and basic analytics. Pro is $15 a month after the November 2025 hike (previously $9).

Can I put a Linktree QR code on a business card? Yes. The QR resolves the same way from print as on-screen. If the card is meant to last, consider a custom-domain alternative so the URL survives a future tool switch. Beacons vs Linktree covers one popular swap.

What if I already printed QR codes and now want to leave Linktree? Two options. Keep the Linktree account on Free as a permanent redirect target (no cost, URLs keep resolving). Or migrate to a tool that supports a custom domain, own the URL going forward, and treat the old printed QRs as legacy assets. The full path is in our migration guide.

Does the Linktree QR code expire? No. Static QR codes never expire. The image encodes a URL directly and does not depend on Linktree's servers to resolve. What can change is what that URL points at (or whether it resolves at all).

Can I get a QR code from Linktree without signing up? No. Linktree's QR code is a dashboard feature tied to a specific profile URL. For a QR of any URL without an account, use Linkero's free QR generator.

The short version

If you just need the QR: dashboard → QR Code icon → download. Free plan works.

If you want it branded: Pro at $15 a month unlocks color, logo, and corner shape customization inside Linktree. Or generate a styled version for your existing linktr.ee/username URL with a third-party tool at no cost.

If it's going on physical merch you plan to distribute at scale: think about the URL, not the QR. A code pointing at yourbrand.com outlives any specific tool. That's a custom domain decision, and Linktree isn't the platform to make it on.
